Greece is a canyoning Paradise!
From Crete on the South to Samothraki island on the far North, from Samos island on the East to Kefalonia island on the West, more than 300 canyons have been discovered and technically secured for autonomous, guided and professional descents. Canyoning thrives as an extreme sport since 1998 and many meetings have successfully gathered over the years canyoners from all over the world to various locations.
Peloponnese, the part of Greece hosting first International Canyoning Festival Greece 2023 is a peninsula connected to the central section of the country by Isthmus of Corinth, an artificial and narrow canal. The land is surrounded by sea and has many mountains, rivers – and of course – canyons. At the moment, approximately 40 canyons have been discovered and secured, among them 14 canyons, that will be our target during ICFG 2023.
Portal Canyoning.ai and International Canyoning Festival’s organising committee will welcome canyoners from Greece and abroad in Chiliomodi, Peloponnese, Greece, in base venue Freeland Adventure Camp, 12-21/05/2023.
The Festival will be a ten days feast of canyoning but will also offer alternative proposals of spectacular road trips and visits to monumental historical locations of north Peloponnese. Satellite events, excursions, talks, presentations, traditional delicacies and famous Greek hospitality will offer all participants a unique experience. Spring will be at its best, with flowers blooming all over the land, friendly weather and temperatures, plus water in the canyons for all levels of canyoning.
