Official opening day of the 2023 International Canyoning Festival with participants arriving at the base area, Freeland Adventure Camp. Settling in the dormitories, receiving the program, possibility to descend a small canyon as the sun sets around 20:00.
Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 20h30:
A happy party with music, free snacks and a beer or soft drink will mark the start of the Festival! It will lift your spirits and give you the chance to meet new friends! For groups already set up at Freeland Adventure Camp the day before, Saturday morning is a great day to pick any of the canyons on the list and just enjoy a full day of canyoning.
Sunday, May 14, 2023:
A day full of canyoning. At 17:30 a conference will start in a closed amphitheater that will last until 20:30 with topics related to Greek and International Canyoning, with extremely interesting speeches. All attendees will enjoy coffee, tea, soft drinks and a small snack during the breaks, while at the end of the event there will be catering.
Monday, May 15, 2023:
A day full of canyoning. After dinner, you may want to attend a lecture/speech/presentation in the conference room by the pool. The program will be announced online one week before the start of the festival and by flyer on the day of your arrival.
Tuesday, May 16, 2023:
A day full of canyoning. After dinner, we will gather at a specific spot and meet Nikolaos Unalome, a famous Greek healer and alchemist of sound vibrations. He will take us on a unique astral journey around the universe, under the magical music of his sound bowls and gongs – something not to be missed! Wednesday, May 17, 2023:
A day full of canyoning. For participants who want to do something different, we have planned an excursion with the rack railway from Diakopto to Kalavryta, which will start from Freeland Adventure Camp at 10:00 am. After a short distance we will reach the small village of Diakopto, park our cars in the free parking lot of the railway station, get ready to take unique photos and board the cute rack railway. It’s an amazing route with views of the Vouraikos Gorge, over the water and the gorge’s waterfalls, which are not safe for technical descents due to the dangerous amount of water BUT it is joined with the magnificent Mikros Helmos Canyon (highly recommended). Many hikers in Greece usually take the train and walk back to the parking lot near the train station in Diakopto. (Actually this excursion is one of the highlights of the Festival – not to be missed either!)
Thursday, May 18, 2023:
A day full of canyoning. After dinner, you may want to attend a lecture/speech/presentation in the conference room by the pool. The program will be announced online one week before the start of the festival and by flyer on the day of your arrival.
Friday, May 19, 2023 at 20h30:
A day full of canyoning. After dinner, at 20:30 a farewell party with music, free snacks and a beer or soft drink will mark the end of the festival! The reason we decided to have the closing ceremony on Friday evening is so that we can all be together before the return departures begin. So if someone has to leave on Saturday or early Sunday, we’ll have a chance to say goodbye.
Saturday, May 20, 2023:
A day full of canyoning. After dinner, at 20:30, vegan chef “Mama Earth” Alexandra Kyrkou will give us some useful tips on nutrition – inside or outside the canyons and offer us freshly squeezed juices. Even if you are not a vegan (she welcomes everyone with great joy without discrimination) you may find healthy eating… easy – don’t miss it! Sunday, May 21, 2023:
Day of departure. After breakfast, no later than 12:00, all participants must hand over the space to the staff of Freeland Adventure Camp. All equipment and those spread out to dry must be collected no later than 12:00 and care must be taken to leave the area clean. If you’re planning on going down one more canyon that day, there are plenty of suggestions for some dry canyons on the way to Athens (if you’ve chosen to leave for your late night return).
The schedule is subject to change – we will let you know in advance, so you can join all the events during the festival!
HOURS for all participants staying on premises:
• Check-in on Friday 12/05/2023 at 15:00
• Departure on Sunday 21/05/2023 at 12:00
• Breakfast daily from 07:00 to 09:00
• Dinner every day at 19:30 – 21:30 upon registration
• Dinner cost 15 euros/person with soft drink or beer.
ADDITIONAL amenities:
• Possibility of daily massages, by appointment only at the Festival secretariat, which will take place in the closed clinic of Freeland Adventure Camp. Appointments can be made online at sales@canyoning.ai. Cost: 40 euros per person for 50 minutes or 25 euros per person for 30 minutes.
• Possibility of creative activities for children within the Freeland Adventure Camp area. Also, babysitting for babies upon consultation with the Festival secretariat. The fee will be announced at the start of the Festival.
