1) What is canyoning?
Canyoning is an extreme sport in nature, it is an adventure in dry or wet canyons, resembles a game and combines very easy, moderate or very demanding routes where one needs to hike, swim, descend waterfalls, dive and slide. Once experiencing this sport as a beginner one is very likely to make it a way of living as it is highly thrilling and fun.
2) Can everybody go canyoning?
Children under 7 – 8 years of age are very young to practice the sport. Even at that age all children must be accompanied by an adult. Other than that, women and men, young and young at heart are most welcome to practice this amazing sport, preferably after the proper technical and physical education in accomplished, legal canyoning schools or under the safe guidance of professional canyoners.
3) How dangerous is canyoning?
A significant element of risk is always into extreme sports in nature. Canyoning can be very easy and fun but also deadly dangerous. Major factor of danger is water flow and quantity, as well as technical difficulties, height of the descents and exposed sections of the canyon.
4) Can a non-swimmer go canyoning?
Canyoning is an extreme sport in nature that includes swimming. If you don’t know how to swim you can’t participate. It is safer to practice after serious theoretical, technical and physical training in the natural field with qualified instructors. It is highly recommended that beginners trying to enter canyons refrain before attending theoretical and practical lessons from certified canyoning instructors. Canyoning is a sport that can even lead to death if certain parameters and techniques are not taken into account.

6) What are the fees to participate in the Festival?
• 1st batch = 70 euro (registrations until 31.01.2023)
• 2nd batch = 80 euro (registrations from 01.02.2023 – 01.03.2023)
• 3rd batch = 90 euro (registrations from 01.03.2023 – 01.04.2023)
• 4th batch = 100 euro (registration at the event)
Τeenagers ( autonomous canyoners) under the supervision of their parents = 50 euro
Children 1 year – 12 years = free
Guests / Non-practitioners = 40 euro
7) What is included in the registration fees?
1. Participation in the official schedule,
2. Welcome party at 20h00 on Saturday 13.05.2022 with music, snacks and a beer or soda,
3. Festival t-shirt and tote bag filled with goodies,
4. Mask and Festival sticker,
5. Free parking outside our base venue
6. A topo guide book, with necessary information, maps and more for the safe descent of the canyons selected for the Festival,
7. Insurance for the whole duration of the Festival,
8. Rescue team on duty daily in the base venue,
9. An event that will take place in a closed auditorium with guest speakers from Greece and abroad.
10. Various satellite events (Lectures, presentations, movies at the meeting hall, singing balls and gong session with Nikolaos Unalome, Fresh Juices and nutritional advise by Mama Earth Alexandra Kyrkou)
11. Farewell party at 20h00 on Saturday 20.05.2022 with music, snacks, a beer or soda and lottery with canyoning gifts with your entry/registration number.
8) What is NOT included in the registration fees?
Transport, accommodation, food, extra drinks/snacks/beverages/coffee/tea, massage, children creative care, medical expenses in case of an emergency and any activity that is not described in the official schedule.
9) How do I purchase my participation?
To secure your participation you need to pay the full amount as described in question / answer No 6.

10) How do I purchase my accommodation?
International Canyoning Festival Greece 2023 accommodation location is in Green Village, Xylokastro, Peloponnesse, as mentioned before.
For your convenience there are 4 types of accommodation according to your financial status.
• 1 Suite Villa, 60 square meters, 3 rooms, that can accommodate 6 persons. One Master bedroom with double bed for 2 with private bathroom and Jacuzzi. Οne bedroom with 2 single beds, one living room space with a double bed couch, kitchen, extra bathroom, private balcony.
– Special price for INCG 2023 70,00 euro per person per day, breakfast and dinner included. – Children up to 5 years old free of charge. (please inform the reception desk for a baby cradle)
– Children 5 – 12 years old 50,00 euro per child per day, breakfast and dinner included.

• 13 Villas, 38 square meters that can accommodate 4 persons (2 persons on a double bed and 2 persons on single beds).

Each group / family of festival participants is responsible for their accommodation and stay.
• Accommodation only for tents on a 2-acre plot full of lemon trees.
Many canyoners enjoy the outdoor life at minimal cost. Therefore, the organizing committee of Canyoning.ai and the International Canyoning Festival Greece 2023 have an alternative proposal for those looking for a simple plan:
(Almost) FREE accommodation for tents only, on a 2 acre plot, full of lemon trees, 1000 meters from the Green Village and about 300 meters from the “Peri Anemon” Tavern, where we will all enjoy our dinner.
This place is just a private estate, full of lemon trees, which was offered as a sponsorship by an individual and friend of the sport to Canyoning.ai to accommodate all the Festival participants who need a financial solution.
A neighboring estate will provide us with water. Chemical toilets will serve the participants throughout the Festival. There will also be plenty of rubbish bins around the counter tents in close quarters.
The use of fire is expressly and unequivocally prohibited throughout your stay. Please keep the area clean throughout the Festival and try to avoid wasting water.
The cost for each person, for the entire duration of the International Canyoning Festival Greece 2023, 12 – 21/05/2023, is 45 euros.
This amount will partially cover the use of water and the rental of chemical toilets. It will be paid in cash on arrival at the Festival Reception, which will be located in Green Village.
In addition, every participant who will stay under the stars and the smell of lemon flowers must go through the reception of the Festival to sign all the necessary documents for their registration.
We ask those who will stay in the common area for the backstage, to prefer the “Peri Anemon” tavern for dinner, so that they can be updated daily about the events and satellite events of the Festival.
The cost for a full dinner with salad, bread, appetizers, main meal and a beer or soft drink is just 15 euros per person.
The price is specially modified for the participants of the Festival, upon presentation of the relevant participation ID.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
• The “recommended” (free) accommodation does NOT have electricity. So be proactive and charge your phones/batteries/power banks in advance. We will provide you with multiple power outlets in Green Village and Peri Anemon Tavern.
• The “recommended” (free) accommodation does NOT have security. So be proactive and don’t leave your valuables unattended. If you have laptops that you need to protect, please let us know so we can arrange a place to keep them at Green Village.
• The Canyoning.ai portal and the organizing committee of the International Canyoning Festival Greece 2023 bear no responsibility for any loss that might occur in the “recommended” (free) accommodation area.
Each group / family of Festival participants in the “recommended” (free) tent accommodation plot is responsible for their own food and stay.
11) Can I cook in my Villa or in my Tent?
All Villas are equipped with basic equipment of preparing a slight snack and fridge. However, Green Village has offered very reasonable prices that include breakfast and dinner, so every canyoner can enjoy the festival and every non-canyoner can relax and enjoy nature in the premises – stress free.
If you choose to stay in a tent (in Green Village or the “recommended” (free) accommodation area) you are kindly asked to refrain from cooking for security reasons. The prices of food offered by both Green Village and Peri Anemon Tavern are already very low. Just enjoy canyoning and touristic attractions of the district. So please NO cooking by your Tent.

12) I am vegan / vegetarian / have food allergies. Can I choose a different menu?
Breakfast and dinner menus will be announced in our website a week before the opening of the Festival. There will be daily choices for vegan / vegetarians – no worries. If you have a food allergy please notify the reception personnel of Green Village as well as the organizers of Canyoning.ai.
13) Is there a WC / Shower for Tent residents?
Green Village will provide with WC / Shower for Tent residents. In the “recommended” (free) accommodation area for tents there will be Chemical Toilets and a water supply from a neighboring estate. There will be no shower or electricity.
14) Do I pay extra to participate at the satellite events?
Registration fees include everything mentioned in the schedule here: link!
Prices do NOT include: Transport, accommodation, extra food (other than breakfast and dinner), extra drinks/snacks/beverages/coffee/tea, massage, children creative care, museums, guided tours of your choice, medical expenses in case of an emergency and any activity that is not described in the official schedule.
15) Is there an International Canyoning Festival Greece 2023 refund policy?
In case of cancellation of registration, the amount corresponding is:
– 75% (seventy-five percent) of the amount paid at registration, if cancellation takes place until 01.02.2023 (Wednesday 1rst of February 2023).
– 50% (fifty percent) of the amount paid at registration, if cancellation if cancellation takes place until 01.03.2023 (Wednesday 1rst of March 2023).
– 0% (no refund) of the amount paid at registration, if cancellation occurs after 01.03.2023 (Wednesday 1rst of March 2023).
Please have in mind that:
– there are expenses that are incurred immediately after the registration is made,
– it is not possible to refund the full registration fee,
– you can directly negotiate the registration with a friend who wants to participate, for an amount to be agreed directly between you.
16) Can I transfer my registration to another canyoner?
Yes! But you need to:
– notify the International Canyoning Festival Greece 2023 organization (sales@canyoning.ai)
– prove it by any form allowed by law
– guide your friend to fill in the registration form on the event’s website
– include agreeing with the terms for carrying out the registration, otherwise the transfer will not be implemented.
If the transfer occurs after 12.04.2023 (Wednesday 12th of April 2023), it will not be possible to change the size of the t-shirt, and your friend purchasing the registration will receive the t-shirt in the size you originally indicated by making the registration first.
17) What about canyoning equipment?
As an autonomous canyoner you already have your canyoning equipment, so bring it on. However, in the premises of Green Village you will have the opportunity to rent or buy additional and new gear at the little canyoning stores.

18) Do I have to make a registration / reservation or can I just show up?
You absolutely MUST make a registration here AND a reservation for your accommodation at Green Village.
19) When is the best time to make a booking?
Pre-booking is essential. Better in advance. Check here for the registration fees.
20) Will the International Canyoning Festival Greece 2023 take place even in bad weather?
Canyoning.ai organizers will proceed with the descents according to the situation. Heavy rain is not the best for canyoning therefore we will have alternatives in cases like that. A little rain or a mildly cold weather are ok and sometimes can offer a unique experience. However, safety is everybody’s number one priority. Generally, weather in May in Greece is an absolute delight. During the festival we will have weather updates daily.
21) Are there any specific safety rules?
Canyoning.ai organizers maintain the right to modify the festival program for safety reasons. All participants should rest assure that any such changes will not differ much from the original schedule.. In case of severe weather conditions, Canyoning.ai organizers put safety first and we may offer alternative excursions. Green Village, our base venue offers enclosed spots where we can easily proceed with our satellite events – so not to worry – everything will be perfect.
22) What about rescue?
Canyoning.ai organizers cooperate with the largest organizations in Greece that consist of professional rescuers but also trained volunteer rescuers. There will be daily presence of rescue teams in the premises of Green Village.
