Location:
Mikros Chelmos or Lagadas canyon is located in Achaia and meets the great gorge of Vouraikos, which cannot be visited due to dangerous water flow. Mikros Helmos is located between the villages of Mamousia and Dumena. The location is enchanting and very mystique.
Specifications:
22 waterfalls from 3 to 40 meters, with impressive descents and a unique atmosphere make the gorge of Mikros Chelmos irresistible, as it also combines hiking on the lines of the rack railway Diakofto – Kalavrita. The canyon is of mild technical difficulty and suitable for canyoners in good physical condition due to its long duration, which is a total of about 6-7 hours, if we also count the one-hour walk by the train lines for about 3 Km.
Short description:
We park the exit car at the abandoned station of the rack railway “Niamata”, which is easily accessible through dirt roads and has enough space to get ready comfortably. To enter the canyon of Mikros Chelmos, we need to make a circular route on dirt and asphalt roads towards the mountain village of Mamousia. After 40 minutes of downhill path starts the technical descent of the canyon.
