Location:
Stefani canyon is located very close to the base of our Festival, Freeland Adventure Camp, near the homonymous village of Stefani in Corinthia, with the amazing observatory.
Specifications:
The technical part of Stefani canyon starts with a descent of 22 meters followed by 3 big rappels of 36 meters (6 + 30), 22 meters and the last, is 30 meters. When the canyon is dry the empty basin that is created can hide a trap and trouble someone. To prevent this from happening there is a ready belay for a guided rappel, which should be set up by the first and most experienced canyoner of the group. Chances are the gorge will be dry during the Festival. After the last rappel, exit to the left.
Short description:
For the exit of Stefani canyon we park the car near the village of Prosymna and for the entrance near the village of Agionori. In general, the road condition is very bad (unless you have a very tall 4X4 car) and the return is 12 Km. From the parking lot at the entrance, we reach the canyon in 10 minutes, while after 35 minutes of walking in the bed, the first technical descent appears. An interesting detail: The canyon is located 20 Km from Mycenae.
